Finding health in an age of instant everything can be a real challenge. Artificial foods and chemical additives have become the mainstay of our diets. If we look at our body as a race car with specific requirements for optimum performance, what would we eat? We could continue to do the same old things that lead to the same old problems. or we could do something different.
The Left Lemon system was developed by Dr. Max E. Collins, a practicing chiropractor in Columbia, South Carolina. He trains people to help themselves through self-awareness and proper food choices.

Health comes to us when we stop doing the things to decrease our health and start doing the things that increase our health. The best way to fine tune this process to your particular needs is to keep a diet diary. List everything you eat along with the problems you are having. Be specific about problems: Right side front shoulder pain, both knees stiff, right index finger tingles, etc.
Left Lemon is not a complicated system, but it is different. Following the first 4 sections will get you on the road to good health. Later sections will clarify how to use it to it’s fullest benefit.

The three main systems that work together to keep you functioning:
Yellow is LL or left lemon is connected to stomach, pancreas and protein digestion troubles.
Green is LO or lemon and oil. Problems here indicate liver trouble and lack of good oils.
Red are the 4Cs or Chlorophyll, Calcium, Apple cider vinegar and Cayenne. Problems in these areas may indicate kidney or adrenal problems and lack of good vegetables.
There are different ways to figure out which system needs help:
1. Use the chart to determine which of the three systems is having problems:
Yellow is LL – left lemon, Green is LO — lemon & oil, Red is 4C’s
Use pain of any kind (including old injuries, because they frequently represent a weak spot), skin problems, and weak areas to determine which system is in need.
The center of your hip and upper arm begins on the side of the body, coming around to the front at the elbow or knee. These would be 4C’s.
The center of the hand and foot includes the third and fourth fingers or toes.
2. Use your body type to see which system is usually out of balance:
If you tend toward LL problems you’ll have a pear shaped body with heavier thighs and carry more weight in your lower abdomen.
If you tend toward LO problems you’ll have an apple shaped body with round chest and shoulders, and you’ll be narrower at the bottom than at the top of your torso.
If you tend toward 4Cs problems, your body will have a pear shape body, with your belly as high as your bust line and a round face. Frequently you’ll have thin arms and legs.
The three types are not permanent!
Though most people have a tendency toward one.
A healthy body is balanced, with no excess fat deposits.
3. Muscle Testing:
Muscle testing is a way for your body to tell you what is good for it and what is not. Try it, test all sorts of things, keep your head clear while you’re doing it because negative or positive emotions can affect the results. And prove to yourself that it does work.
Little finger pressed to thumb. Palm of hand facing up is same side system, hand facing down is opposite side kidney.
You can do this standing or lying down, lift one leg at a time, rotating the leg before you lift. If you have any pain or weakness, this would indicate a weakness in a system. The rules for this are:
Toe rotated in is the same side system.
Toe rotated out is the opposite side system.
Toe straight up is the opposite side kidney.
In other words, if you are raising your right leg with your toe pointed in, you would be testing the LO side. Right leg with toe pointed out would be LL, right leg with toe pointed straight up would be 4C’s.
4. Poke your belly:
Understanding that everything switches sides at the navel, gently massage the soft parts of your belly (abdomen) to find any pain, tenderness, puffiness, or tightness. Rashes and other skin conditions are good clues too. Your upper left quadrant, near your heart, would be LL. Your upper right quadrant, near your liver, would be LO. And center line problems would be 4Cs. Here’s a chart to help you visualize it.
Okay, so now what do I do about it?
Pay attention to 4Cs first, unless the problem is definitely LL or LO.
LL — Stomach and pancreas problems and protein digestion.
LL people benefit from more lemon in their diets to help them digest proteins (left: lemon). They need to be careful to eat proteins that agree with them and avoid junk proteins. Squeezing extra lemon juice on your foods will help. Make sure all meals have a 30/30/40 combination of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates with all six foods from the Left Lemon System (lemon, oil, calcium and chlorophyll from greens, natural red foods, and a good vinegar). They also tend to overeat proteins, which makes everything worse.
Squeeze a fresh lemon or lime on your foods or drink the juice straight. Use the juice of 1-4 lemons per day, in your foods or drinking the juice. If you are cold, put lemon in warm water. This is also good for stress.
Removing all animal products from your diet for a week or more can help restore stomach acid.
Left side carpel tunnel or rotator cuff syndromes may be related to protein problems.
Pear-shaped people frequently have blood vessels that are too loose and tend to leak. They also have strokes and clotting issues, tending toward low blood pressure.
Focus on improving digestion. Don’t overeat and don’t eat foods that you don’t digest well, especially highly processed proteins and anything you may be allergic to. The top allergens are corn, wheat, peanuts and dairy products — all highly processed protein foods. Also stay away from tannins: coffee, tea, chocolate and colas.
LO – Liver problems and lack of good oils.
LO people benefit from more high-quality oils with their lemon to help the liver operate smoothly (right: lemon & oil). They need to be careful to eat only good oils that agree with them and be aware that their body might change and need another type of oil for a while. Make sure all meals have a 30/30/40 combination of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates with all six foods from the Left Lemon system (lemon, oil, calcium and chlorophyll from greens, natural red foods, and a good vinegar).
People with diabetes and hypoglycemia are usually not digesting fats and oils at all (add lemon to the diet and improve quality and quantity of oils).
Squeeze a fresh lemon or lime and add an equal amount of a good oil. Drink it, drizzle it on your food, dip your food into it, or sip it. You can add oregano for dipping and drizzling, or a bit of water for drinking.
Right side carpel tunnel or rotator cuff syndrome may be related to liver problems.
The liver must be working well in order for the body to build hormones from cholesterol. Otherwise high cholesterol and triglycerides may result, along with low hormone levels.
Apple-shaped people usually tend toward heart attacks. The blood vessels are too tight, leading to high blood pressure and cholesterol problems.
Focus on getting better oils into your diet and eliminating hydrogenated or other highly processed oils. Eat a lot of greens but make sure you are digesting them. Marinated Greens are easier to digest than plain raw greens.
4C’s – Kidneys and adrenal problems.
4Cs people need more high quality carbohydrates rich in the darker colored vegetables (center: 4 C’s). Make sure all meals have a 30/30/40 combination of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates with all six foods from the Left Lemon system (lemon, oil, calcium, chlorophyll, natural red foods, and a good vinegar).
Eat the 4 Cs — chlorophyll, calcium, cider vinegar, and cayenne (natural red pigments). Calcium and chlorophyll are found together in dark green leafy vegetables, any good quality vinegar is fine, and any natural pigmented red food is good but cayenne is a powerful healing food. Artificial red dyes fool your body and can cause an adrenal/carb problem.
Barometer – hand or foot pain in morning would suggest kidneys are overloaded.
Restless legs – eat marinated greens (recipe), stop sodas, caffeine, and tea. Especially avoid artificial red (orange and purple too) food dyes.
Plum-shaped people usually have a mixture of cardiovascular issues, but high blood pressure is frequently a problem.
Focus on general health — make sure you are eating plenty of marinated or cultured vegetables to make them easier to digest. Avoid caffeine (coffee, tea, chocolate and colas) and artificial red food dyes.
